CEP: Download & Installation (with hak order list)

DOWNLOAD:

Download Latest Version (2.65):
CEP Download Page
If using version 2.4 or later, DO NOT USE the version 2.3 updater! It no longer functions properly with the latest CEP and will overwrite newer content.

INSTALLATION:

Players:
1. Download desired full version (latest recommended, of course).

2. Decompress files
/ambient contents go into NWN/ambient
/docs contents go into NWN/docs
/erf contents go into NWN/erf
/hak contents go into NWN/hak
/modules contents go into NWN/modules
/tlk contents go into NWN/tlk (if this folder doesn't exist on your machine, just add it)

- If you are using only Beamdog's Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition, these subfolders are found in your Documents folder.

- If you have both NWN Diamond (1.69) and NWN:EE installed, you can force NWN:EE to use the NWN 1.69 folders (and save yourself disk space) by editing your Documents/Neverwinter Nights/nwn.ini file to point to the old installation folders.

3. Start playing CEP modules and PWs!

Note: Some older modules may require use of older versions of CEP. Versions 2.1 and later are compatible backwards to v2.1 Modules requiring older versions will require you to download that older version, which will not interfere with your installation of the latest version (Older versions can be found on the Neverwinter Vault).



Builders:
1. Download desired full version (latest recommended, of course).

/hak contents go into NWN/hak
/modules contents go into NWN/modules
/tlk contents go into NWN/tlk (if this folder doesn't exist on your machine, just add it)
- - NOTE: If updating from a previous installation, make a backup copy of (or just don't overwrite) your cep2_custom.hak and/or cep2_build.hak if you've made any changes to them.


3. Add CEP to your module in the toolset (after making a backup copy)
- Open module in the toolset.
- Go to Edit > Module Properties > Custom Content
- Add latest cep .tlk file (cep260.tlk)
- Add cep2_ hak files (use drop-down list)
- Move hak files into correct order:

Outdated Haks:
The download includes other hak files that are not currently used, but
are kept available for backwards compatibility back to CEP 2.1 (meaning
a player with the current CEP can still play modules/PWs that were/are
built with older versions).
- Click OK to begin module build.
- Save when finished.

The hak order may appear different from previous versions of CEP.

There are additional files included in the download. Other haks are kept so that players can still enjoy older modules make with previous versions of the CEP (going back to CEP 2.1). Documentation and other files for earlier versions are also included so that information is not lost over time.

I'm trying to get the 2.60 starter mod to work, but all custom menus are blank.  Is this supposed to be this way?  Even when I create a new mod and follow the above instructions, I get the same results.  However, mods created with CEP 2.4 still act normally with the 2.6 installed. Any ideas?

Blueprints for items, creatures, etc. are included in an erf file (look for one with "add_sb" in the file name) so that they can be imported and edited by a builder. Previous versions of the CEP included those blueprints in a hak file, which meant a builder could not edit them without a lot of extra work.
